Yes. We usually take 1 to 3 associates a year, depending on the applicants. We recruit once a year, in fall quarter, and we don’t recruit fourth-years. Fall 2026 applications open Monday, October 19.

We’re the only VC group at UChicago writing real checks. Associates source, screen, and invest in student startups themselves, from the first coffee chat to the check. Our grants are $500 to $3,000, and we take no equity.

Apply, then grab a coffee chat with 1 or 2 of us (usually at Pret) and pitch the board. You’ll hear back within about a week. The person making the calls has to be a UChicago undergrad, and LTF has to be your first check.
